Thursday, November 10, 2016 GREENFIELD — The United Way of Franklin County has sold out for its 17th annual art and leisure auction, to be held at Greenfield Community College Nov. 18. The auction starts at 6:30 p.m. in the college’s dining commons. The auction will feature more than 200 items, from tickets to Springfield Thunderbirds games, a week’s stay in Stowe, Vt. and $1,000 Southwest Airlines gift cards. Other items include paintings, gift certificates to numerous area businesses, photographs, pottery, fabric arts and jewelry. Rep. Paul Mark will be the guest auctioneer. “We’re thrilled,” said Sandy Sayers, the United Way’s executive director. “The auction has always been a fun and successful event for the United Way of Franklin County. In the last four years, we have doubled attendance and the amount of money that we raise!” In 2012, she said, the event brought $20,000 and last year, it was just shy of $40,000. Part of the event’s success has come from introducing “table sponsorships” at the cost of $250 for a table of eight, Sayers said. “We have 23 tables reserved this year,” she noted. “It’s a great way to get a group together and have fun!” The money raised by the auction is used to help the United Way’s partner agencies throughout the year, Sayers said.
